This is an ultrasonic method for the visualization of the main blood vessels of the legs. The method is a painless, non-invasive diagnostic method which measures blood flow through the blood vessels of the legs. It can detect narrowing or widening (aneurysm). It reveals deposits or plaque that narrow blood vessels, thrombosis (partial or complete clogging of an artery or vein by a blood clot), varicose veins, and the degree of widening.
Doppler Ultrasound of Lower Extremities is recommended to patients who had thrombosis, thrombophilia (genetic predisposition for thrombosis) as well as people whose close relative had deep vein thrombosis, who have cold or tingling sensation in the legs, feel pain when walking – reduced blood circulation, or swellings or redness of skin on the legs accompanied by pain.
