For more than a year we have been facing the new worldwide-scale infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID 19) virus type. Due to its presence in almost all countries in the world, the PANDEMIC was declared by the World Health Organization (WHO). In the mid-May 2021, according to the data of the WHO, 164 million people were infected by COVID infection and 3.4 million people died. All world has been preoccupied by acute care and treatment of infection but as time goes by there is another post-COVID problem emerging. By collecting numerous experiences in practice, the profession starts to face also the issues regarding the recovery and combat with long-term consequences of this disease. After the recovery of the acute Covid infection about 30 percent of patients suffers from short-term or long-term consequences of it. The patients recovering from COVID-19 infection have different symptoms:

• Chronic fatigue, enervation and muscle weakness
• Breathing with difficulties, cough and chest pain
• Quick and/or irregular heart rate
• Memory and focus problems (“brain fog”)
• Joint pain
• Headache
• Anxiety and depression
• Increase of body mass
• Sleep difficulties (insomnia)
• Vertigo, feeling of instability and unsteady walking
• Tingling and other skin sensations

Now it is already well-known that the COVID-19 virus does not affect only lungs. In fact, it is about multisystemic disease in which the primary process is in lungs with minor or major presence in other organs and systems, primarily cardiovascular, kidney, nervous system, etc.

Therefore, the treatment of these patients requires a serious and multidisciplinary approach in which the basis consists of respiratory and cardiovascular rehabilitation. It should be designed for the patients whose treatment of Covid-19 infection ended minimum 4 weeks earlier. The rehabilitation is suitable for all patients who suffered from infection, primarily those who still have previously described symptoms. Therefore, after the recovery from the infection itself, more frequent control examinations and check-ups of doctors of various specializations are required as well as what we offer you, the specialized rehabilitation of post-Covid patients.

All this requires a very close contact between doctors and patients, which means that patients must be treated in a multidisciplinary manner.

With patients who had complications during the illness, it is necessary also to have more complex treatment for the purpose of better recovery and return to everyday life activities.

Surely, the focus is on the improvement of the respiratory function. It is required to stimulate the strength of your respiratory musculature, better blood supply and exchange of gases in lungs.

Therefore, it is of utmost importance that the measures and exercises we apply have an adjusted approach to every patient individually – an individual approach.

With every one of you, on the reception, the complete cardiovascular examination will be done through: physical result, heart ultrasound and ergometric stress test with initial basic blood and urine analyses, oxygen saturation in blood will be determined (pulse oximetry) and it will be one of the parameters of tracking and success of the therapy. The values of blood pressure will be regulated as well as mandatory medical counselling on the correction of risk factors for atherosclerosis or coronary disease. Your medication therapy will be fully determined for the condition of your cardiovascular system. On the basis of performed examinations every patient will have the program of specialized exercise with accurate intensity, duration, type and frequency designated during the time spent in the rehabilitation in the duration of 10 to 14 days.
