MRI

MRI of the musculoskeletal system  is a superior painless, harmless, non-invasive diagnostic method used for the examination of the musculoskeletal system.

It gives information on the damage degree of the soft tissues and cartilage surrounding joints, the meniscus, ligaments, joint capsules, and bone structures beneath joint cartilage. It is a starting point for planning further surgical or non-surgical treatment.

MRI is done at a specialist’s request when the condition demands a finer diagnostic method. It is used for the inspection of joint soft and bone tissues, injuries and other situation with possible tissue damage, malign diseases when it is necessary to determine the extent of their spread, and further characterization of pathological changes in tumors of soft and bode tissues.

Scheduling

To schedule an appointment contact the Marketing Department (+381 18 502 211, marketing.sluzba@radonnb.co.rs). If the patient is already in the institute for treatment and rehabilitation, he/her will have a test scheduled by one of the medical staff.

Bring the following items to the appointment:

  • A valid identification(passport, ID);
  • Previous medical documentation
  • The medications the patient takes as his/hers current therapy and the documentation
  • Form INO-1 (foreign citizens who reside temporarily in Serbia)

The diagnostic method is charged according to the valid price list of the Institute.

IMPORTANT: Patients with a pacemaker or metal objects in their body should inform the medical staff before an MRI.

Depending on the region being scanned the patient can be in sitting or lying position. The joint in question is put into the device while the rest of the body is out. During the scan patient should be calm, relaxed, breathing evenly without any discomfort or pain. The entire time a trained technician is with the patient and he/she  can talk to the patient if needed. The examination does not cause claustrophobia. Esaote O-scan 0.3T magnetic resonance imaging device has the ability to examine the knees, lower legs, feet, elbows, forearms and hands. The examination is painless and not harmful to the human body, without proven harmful biological effects and requires a lot of patience from the patient. The scanning time is up to 30 minutes.

The findings are issued 2 day after the day of the examination.
