Ultrasound examination of carotid arteries (Doppler) is a painless, non-invasive diagnostic method. In other words, it is an ultrasonic examination of the neck arteries that supply blood to the brain.
This test is for patients with symptoms (weakness or numbness of hands or legs, vertigo, loss of consciousness, concentration and memory disorders, headaches, etc.) and without any symptoms but do have some cardiovascular disease risk factors (heritage, high blood pressure, high blood sugar or fat, obesity, smoking, etc.).
Doppler ultrasound of the neck arteries shows the appearance of the carotid and vertebral arteries, their width, the degree of arteriosclerosis, age, possible narrowing, stroke risk factors, the blood flow towards the brain, etc.
