The clinic for cardiology performs the examinations of a great number of urgent cardiology states ,as well as interventions  as a part of the receiving ward of the outpatient department of the cardiology service, and on the other hand ,through specialized examinations the physicians make distinction between patients who need urgent cardiology treatment and examination.
There are 40 beds at the Clinic for Cardiology, and there are: Coronary Care Unit, Semi-intensive Care  with Hospital Ward  and  the first class equipped non-invasive functional diagnostics. As a part of the Clinic, there are also the Cabinet for  hyperlipidemia. hypertension, coronary disease and heart impairment. Patients get complete education, at the Cabinets, about the nature of their disease  in addition to recognition of the complete body state as well as all  joined risk factors. Therapy is administered according to all contemporary both European and worldwide protocols but always  with respect to the individual approach to each patient respectively.
Coronary Care Unit with six beds:

In the already existing conditions, treatment of 500 patients with the total of 1500 days spent at the Clinic, can be   planned.
Semi-intensive Care with three beds:
Treatment of 225 patients with 1000 days spent at the Clinic, is planned.
General Care - Cardiology Department: structure: - 16 double-bed rooms. Total capacity: 32 beds for patients. This is enough for patients to have adequate diagnosis established, treatment, working capacity evaluation as well as early rehabilitation of cardiovascular patients. In the already existing room conditions, it is possible to plan 900 patients with the total of 9.000 days spent at the Clinic.
Significant part of the activity is education of the stuff from the field of cardiology in all organizing segments at the Clinic for Cardiology, and there is also constant participation in the scientific-investigating work.
Almost all physicians are educated, beside the work at the ward, to perform all non-invasive diagnostic procedures (ultra sound of the heart, exercise test, 24 hour ECG Holter monitoring , 24 hour blood pressure Holter monitoring ).

Cardiology is concepted to admit and treat all urgent conditions from the field of non-invasive cardiology, including  the possibility of temporary pass-maker implantation. As a part of the cardiology diagnostics, pharmacology and with effort induced stress-echo tests are also performed, that provides better diagnostics of the coronary disease. Cardiology diagnostics is performed for patients who are treated at the clinic and patients from the out-patient department, as well.
Cardiologists from the Institute "Niška Banja" had participated and now they participate in numerous multi-centric  international studies and at the same time they are participants on numerous Serbian  and international  congresses. They are the authors of numerous written papers, and a great number of them is published in foreign journals and other reviews. They have participated in several University textbooks.
The Clinic can be proud of the successful organization of the well-known Symposium  in cardiology, with international  participation, which is held at the Institute "Niška Banja", every other year. All written papers are published in extenso, so the books from the Symposium are the source of both new and contemporary knowledge from cardiology.

Coronary Care Unit
Coronary Care Unit is a department of cardiology, which deals with treatment and taking care of patients from the region of Niš. All patients with acute heart diseases are taken care of, the most common is coronary disease (acute heart attacks, heart impairment, rhythm disorders ...). There are six beds in the coronary care unit. From the very beginning, it has been contemporary with the latest methods in treatment and follow up of patients with coronary disease and other acute heart diseases. With the constant improvement in therapy of these diseases, methods of treatment have changed and adapted  to the most progressive attitudes. Annual average number of patients, at the clinic is about 1300. and in the Coronary unit , about 500 patients are hospitalized annually. In the last five years, about 120 patients with acute myocardial infarction were treated.
Coronary Care Unit was renovated in 2008., when six monitors, of the latest generation, were placed, with the possibility of the central monitoring and follow up of all vital functions in all patients. This led to significantly faster and more effective respond to state disorder in patients and to increase of the quality of the treatment. Beside the Coronary Care Unit, there is also a semi-intensive care unit with three beds which are also equipped with monitors for the follow up of patients.
Other beds are in the ward for general care at the cardiology department, double-bed rooms, equipped according to the standard, where patients from coronary care unit and semi-intensive unit are admitted, as well as the patients  who are on high cardiovascular risk, for the complete heart examination.
